When Heather Talks...Ann smells a Challenge!

Recently (I) Heather joined up on Swap-Bot, cause I have been doing some swaps online lately, and have enjoyed them immensely so I wanted to do some more regularly. One particular swap, is a Big International Journal Swap. I really want to do this, but as I am preparing to fill it, collecting things from here and there and then thinking about all the cools things I was going to put into...I just didn't want to part with it. But I like the idea of having a commitment to more than just myself, but the thought of sending it off and never seeing it again, just made my heart ache! So I decided to make two. One for me. One for my partner. After all, wouldn't after looking over it a few times, admiring some techniques or other goodies...wouldn't it in the end just be clutter for that person? In the end do you really want to keep something that is filled with all the thoughts and likes of a stranger from possibly half the world (or more) away? Perhaps... I make find my partner to be a kindred spirit and they would over time care for such a journal...but I am not sure the likely hood of it. But in the end it isn't like this journal that I will get will come from a close friend in whom I genuinely care about and so the journal will be loved. This is a huge project and also very unique and personal to the person who created it. So I was discussing this with Ann today over the phone and we opted to do this ourselves. I am committed to the project on Swap-Bot now, as it is passed the drop out deadline, but we are going to do this project in vintage Cousin style.

Here's how we are going to do it. Perhaps you might want to do a virtual craft along with us...your choice. Ann ran out this morning to Ross and bought some $4 journals. (You could make your own, but we are going to alter ours). Basically we are going to decorate the outside and perhaps some insides for each other with the deadline of July 15 to get that done. After all, we gals have lives that go beyond our paper studios. Then swap them and fill them up. (Questions are posted below) and then swap again just to look at eachother's answers. Then give them back and keep our own personal journal about ourselves. Perhaps this will meet our desires to scrap about our lives personally, but we have yet to do as a part of our paper crafting goals this year. We both liked the idea of antiquing and adding some vintage to the book we decorate for each other. I look forward to seeing our creations and have complete trust in Ann's talents...After all... Ann is my Jedi Master in scrapbooking.
Now I want to make it clear and give CREDIT where CREDIT is do. This isn't our little concoction... here are the origins to this swap. And we want to thank them for their creativity.

Paper Bag Album Class- SMILE

I made this album for a class I was teaching on Paper Bag Albums at Church. Notice the much less adorned look of it. I plan on putting some pictures of the boys in it. I think it came out really nice even if it isn't as blinged out as I normally do on a mini album. Shows you that simplicity can be equally as nice.
The paper is Cosmo Cricket.

Frightfully Delightful

So here is a minialbum inspired by Marion Smith's Halloween Mini Album. You can watch her video and perhaps it will inspire you to make something too. Mine is Really CHUNKEEEEEY! I like em' chunky!
Made mostly with Making Memories Spellbound paper from a few years ago.

One

Here is my darling daughter around her first Birthday. So this is a scraplift from the Prima Blog. It is the last one in this post.
The paper is K and Co. Jubilee. And of course some Prima Flowers.

Album In a Box

The Album in a box comes from watching a Live with Prima Video.

Forgive the awful photos. I was getting ready to send these to my mother and MIL. So I took pictures of them on the dashboard of the minivan.
The one on the Left is made with DCWV Paper. And the other is from a Basic Grey.

My Girl Chipboard Album

The Chipboard album for this is one of the Mary Englebrite albums in the dollar section at Michaels. For a dollar... you can't beat the cost of chipboard and cutting it out in a scalloped circle. I stocked up on a few. Square Scalloped, Tea Pot... I forget what else. I have only one daughter so I lovingly Titled it... "My Girl."

Page 1... Loving those new Prima Flowers. The paper is DCWV Mariposa. I am going to have to buy more of that paper.

Page Two. I did some crackle paint on that butterfly. Added a Tim Holtz book plate.
Page Three. The green flower was a white Prima, but I colored it with Angel Mist.

Page Four. The Bingo Card I used some of the Old Paper Crackle paint form Ranger Inks/Tim Holtz.

Best Friends.
I love this little doily frames. It picked up some of the Green Glimmer Mist too and i used it on the green flower again.

For an Aged look I put crackle paint on the picture. I was just testing out how it would look.

Quite awhile back I found this C Pearl ornament in the dollar section at Michaels. Nice to finally put it to use. This page and others has some of the new Prima Bling.

Back... lots of Ribbon, seven gypsies chandelier thingys and a Tim Holtz Key that says Heart.

There it is... a chipboard album with my girl.

Explosion Box

Here is my latest Explosion Box featuring Christmas 2009. It has been so nice creating something for myself. Often all my paper crafting projects are gifts for others.

Above is the top of the lid.

Front View.

View of it opened looking down.

This is the first time I did something 3-D in the center. I think it came out cute.

Scrapbooking show and tell

I got this tin from the Thrift store for .99 cents. I ripped off the paper, cause frankly... it was ugly and drab. But I liked the ink distressing they had done on the metal itself. You can't really see it in this picture though. So I took out some of my scrapbooking stuff and went crazy on it. I ooohed and awed over this tin.Well this is my version. Sorry the picture isn't that great. I really need a new camera. I couldn't find a butterfly I liked to go on it. Though I may add one at some point.
Flower up close
Other Flower
A gift for a very helpful friend.

Back

I hope she enjoys it, cause i really appreciate her presence in my life. Others saw it and now I have been asked to make another. So I need to get this back healed soon, so I can finish it!

More from Heather

This last December, (on my birthday outing) Ann and I went to a Craft Show, that wasn't very exciting. We got there perhaps a half an hour before it was closing, but we did see someone selling these post it note message thingys. Anyhow, being "two crafty cousins" we knew we could replicate it. It was basically one of those plastic 5X7 photo frames that can stand up on their own. You basically make a background and slide it in and put the whole thing upside down so that it sits up at an angle. I know a tutorial would be better, but yeah...sorry that isn't going to happen. Maybe Ann will do one. She did this same craft for her card swap group. They swap cards and do a make and take.
I wrapped some ribbon around the top and slapped a three layered flower on it and then a post it not pad. I made four in 15 mins. Sweet!

Paper- Making Memories Chelsea's Place

This layout probably won't make sense to you cause well.... its just for me. It is layout two for the 52 in 2010 Class. Check them out. But basically it is for New years resolutions and I chose my most important one that basically deals with two of my resolutions, that is save money and Stay on budget. So "Save on Target" is sort of a Star Wars thing... "Stay on Target." you know... when Luke is in his fighter jet and and is going to drop a blast to blow up the death star. I seriously had this conversation with my husband last night... he brought up how Avatar (the new movie) was like the Wookies, in tune with nature. And then I teased him saying that it all comes down to Star Wars. And then we laughed to say "Everything we learned in life, we learned from Star Wars." I found it especially funny that I (yes, I like Star Wars... but dh LOVES Star Wars) that I had a reference to Star Wars in my scrapbooking. My journaling is a tag that can be pulled out behind the picture. So along with the theme for this layout, there was a challenge to do some sewing on it too. Caught that around the green patterned paper. Gees. I have been saving this Star Wars Scrapbooking paper that I got from Simple Pleasures in Colorado Springs in August for a layout to do for my oldest son. Wouldn't it have been funny to use Star Wars Paper for this? So cheesy, I know. Funny, but cheesy.

Paper is CTMH Emporium
Letters cut out with my MM Slice
Prima flowers

Handmade Christmas Reveal-Part 1

Finally I am getting around to posting things from the last month. Above is the purse I made for my mom that I finally finished (been working on it for at least 3-4 years. I think I started it initially when I was pregnant with Mr. S. It came out really nice for a felted purse. Not sure what she'll use it for.
I swapped a friend another felted purse for her to sew a lining into the purse. She did it so nicely. I could have never done that with my basic sewing skills. She makes fabric purses and sells them so she was happy to do it for my felted one. I also used her grommet thing to put in the grommets for the handles.
Maybe I will get around to making one for my self.
